How does the GPA work? I have 2 classes on my transcript that I got D's in... but I retook them and got an A in both. Does that automatically cancel the D out? Will the D always show up on my transcript?

  1. How colleges handle this varies from school to school.  Some average the courses, others cancel the lower grade out.  Talk to an academic advisor at your school.  (college prof)

  2. The A will replace the D in your GPA, but the D stays on your transcript.  The transcript goes by semester - which courses you took and your grade.  Even if you retake it, it doesn't change your transcript from a previous semester.
