How does computer crime affect society directly and indirectly?

this is now the latest white collar crime that is growing.  the nigerian scam has been on line and people still fall prey to it.  this is seamless as you dont know the person cheating you and there is no where / no lead as to where they are, who to complain to.  in nearly all cases, police is also not able to help.

some fake NGOs have sprung up and they solicit donations eg, poor kids in africa.  innocently we use our credit card or sent a money order.  

if we part with our money,  its likely to disappear forever.  

  when we go to genuine sites and use our credit card number, hackers can hijack the number and use it for illegal purposes.  

now, every user wherever u are is affected.  so we gotta be careful.

this makes us lose confidence in using the internet.
