How does doing the thing we fear nourish our spirit?

I read that somewhere and I questioned it. How does it nourish our spirit in your opinion.

I don't mean doing things we SHOULD do but we are not doing out of some fear. Eg. going out n socializing a little. But what about somethings like taking a public speaking class. I have utter fear of it and I'd never take such a class or driving alone around in my big city on the highway. I hv fears n anxiety about it, so I just do the small-distance driving that I can and avoid the rest. Someimes I do think I am missing out on somethings, but it's no big deal. Why would I put myself through that stress?

I mean, wouldn't doing the thing we Fear put more stress on our body and mind and soul?

  1. It only creates stress, until you overcome it, once you overcome it, you never have to stress about doing something like that again.

  2. "Of all the liars in the world, sometimes the worst are your own fears."

  3. I always rationalize it as this : fears are what keeps them from evolving. When one overcomes ones fear(s), he/she is then able to go on with his/her life fearless which in turns can uplift ones spirit as he/she will be able to approach life with a different attitude.

  4. The only thing I can think of is overcoming fears increases oppurtunity, our self-esteem or image of ourselves (if I can do X I can do anything) and creates a rush of positive feeling -  a bit adrenaline, a bit relief, etc.

I don't know if this counts as nourishing a spirit, but then I would never have used that phrase myself anyway...

  5. no not really i don't stress under fear. i willingly put my self in the dark to make self brave and it help build my self esteem because then i have no fear of other thing like rejection but i still fear the dark just enough to know it can't  hurt me

fear is necessary cause if i was in the dark alone.there could be a raper or murderer but still too much is bad and too little is bad too .

here is a really good tip why i don't stress over fear .when you are in "fear mode " look at how your body is shaking and you'll get calm.start practicing like if you lost something or some one yelling at you then start big
