  1. It dissolves the clog.If I remember right is does this by using acid in the ingredients along with what ever else it has in it...The best way to get a sink unclogged is to remove th p-trap and clean it.That is if the blockage is in the trap..


  2. Last month we bought a house and started remoulding it, right off the bat we notice a bathroom sink was clogged I used a snake on it and could't break through the blockage so I let drain-o soak for approx. 24hrs and sure enough it broke through and the drain unclogged.

  4. The answers are correct up to a point. It is not acid, it is Lye. The main ingredient in Draino is Sodium Hydroxide, Lye.

    Lye is used to make soap by mixing it with fat or oil. So Draino does the same thing to grease in your pipes. It combines with the grease and makes it soluable in water. It does also tend to break down organic material like hair in the bathroom sink but not as effectively.
