i'm really confused on how the whole bidding thing works.

i know this is sort of a dumb question, buuuut if you are to bid on something do you still have to pay?

also, what's the safest way to pay for something?

annd what is the safest way to avoid fraud?

any extra information as to how ebay works would be amazing <3

for one its not a dumb question ebay is difficult.

when you bid on something you are trying to win that item.

for example a book is a £1. and you bid £1.50 and at that moment no one else has bidded. this means you are winning that item. But if someone else bids £2.00 this means they are winning and you no longer are winning this item so you would not have to pay the £1.50 you bid because someone else bid higher than you. Hope that helps.

The safest way to pay something is by credit card e.g visa - electron.

maybe cheque would be ok.

the safest way to avoid fraud is sign up to paypal. this means you have a save easy transaction. go to www.paypal.co.uk

if you win--you have to pay.

also if you bid lets say $50.00 and it is still $0.99 when the bidding ends--you pay that price.

safest way is PayPal again to avoid fruad PayPal &lt;--becuase if you dont receive your item you get you money back
