This is a new hybrid car that looks like a mix between a UFO and a jet, it is running at 30,000 dollars but just think about how much money that would save people annually, and save the environment to.

Say goodbye to chevron and shell...

  1. not at 30k. it has to get under 10k to sell to the populace. and if they were not so greedy, it would work.

  2. I agree with Mel. They have to do something about the price. There's no savings till the thing is payed off and at 30 grand it's going to be awhile before you see it.

  3. Pretty slick. 30 grand is a bit pricy, but then, so is a Mini Cooper. Or a Pruis. It's going to take thinking like this to get people off the gasoline habit.

  4. how  about this at only $10k?

  5. I think if they could get the price down to like 18 or 20. They would be showing up quite often. But how big is the tank. Because isnt true that if gas sits for a while it would go bad? Cause It take a while for myself to put that many miles on it.

  6. its hideous ,only 2 ppl can sit in it ,and its technically a motocycle

  7. Actually they are now "only" claiming 230mpg, and that is a) with a fully charged battery b) a trip of 120 miles or less. In that the Aptera is a plug-in hybrid, these numbers should not be compared against those of a regular car. ANY plug-in hybrid can achieve this figure, or even infinite MPG under the right conditions (for example, some clever folks have adapted their Priuses to be plug-in, and if they keep their speed and distance down on a short trip, the gas engine will never kick in. Effective MPG: How high can we count?).

That said, it's an important idea, along with the new Smart TwoFor: Micro cars for commuting, that create a tiny carbon footprint, use plug-in hybrid technology coupled with efficient engines.
