How does eye color change?

How do eyes change colors? My eyes were the brightest blue when I was a baby...now they are greenish-grey . . .

Many people have blue eyes when they are born, but over time they change. Mine used to be blue but now they are grayish/hazel.

lots of babies are born with blue eyes then they "change" to some other color.  it has to do with pigment deposition on the back side of the iris during development.

(and no, there's no way to affect it...cant stop it from happening, etc)
