How does feeding rate of a common limpet affect its height?

  1. Do you mean height it is lifted up off the substratum?  Or do you mean its overall size?

    I think you must mean the first and in that case it seems reasonable that a limpet's height would increase with feeding rate.  In order to move across the substratum, a limpet needs to lift its shell up and expose some of itself.  So, to move to a new patch of algae for feeding, it would have to lift up.  Therefore, if it is feeding quickly and needing to move a lot, it is going to have to remain lifted.
