Nowadays, it is common that an employer will ask for a prospective employee's authorization to get his credit report.  That is where they will find out that you filed bankruptcy.  It affects you since bankruptcy is a discredit to anyone because it means that you have mismanaged your finances.

Depends on the job. Certain jobs that require handling large some of money may be harder to get if the employer checks your credit. In other kind of jobs, the employer may or may not check your credit at all.

It also depends how long it has been since you filed for bankruptcy.

I have never seen any sort of job application that asked about your personal financial situation or credit score.  It should not matter at all.

IT will affectt you a lot. My brother had bankruptcy 12 year ago. When he was applying for a job at Sam's Wholesale stores.His bankruptcy stay on his record for 10 years.The employer check his credit. In other kind of jobs, the employer may or may not check your credit at all.

It also depends how long it has been since you filed for bankruptcy.But now he said that is off his record.

It can - which is a little stupid, unless you are working in accountancy or the legal profession, however in my case my employers have been very happy with my honesty.

If you are renting a property, bankruptcy may also affect your position in staying put - though check your contract.

With what seems like half of the world going bankrupt, I wouldn't worry too much.

some companies do you look at your credit score to see how well you take care of yourself. im not sure if it matters THAT much.
