How does forcing me to change my life, but allowing China to pollute help the earth?

I don't understand why in the U.S. we're forced to buy more efficient cars, recycle, etc. Going green is costing us billions, yet we continue to buy goods and prop up the Chinese economy. A country that pollutes way more than the U.S.

If thats not bad enough we're selling them the most inefficient cars we make! Buicks and SUVs. Shouldn't we mandate that GM, etc. can only sell them hybirds or at least efficient cars like we're forced to now buy?

Shouldn't the world be helping China to become green? Oh wait, we like buying there cheap products too much, global warming isn't real, and its about money and not the earth. I forgot.

  1. Good question!  Why aren't the world's most powerful people doing something about it as well?!?!

  2. i agree ,very good . but if we stop buying products that are made in china, we will all be doing without a lot of things we need.we need to get our companies back home ,then we will be able to sell to them. let me know what you think .

  3. YOU WANT TO RUN OVER TO TELL CHINA ABOUT IT.== I've suggested that our EPA through the united nations ask China if we can help stop the bad air over there to no avail. SO I SUGGESTED THAT NO-ONE GO TO THE OLYMPICS FOR FEAR OF LUNG DISEASE AND I ALSO SUGGEST WE HOLD THE OLYMPICS SOMEWHERE ELSE DUE TO A HEALTH SITUATION. MORE THAN 1/3 OF CHINA HAS AIDS. PLUS THE FACT THAT THEIR HOLDING A PEACEFUL COUNTRY AGAINST ITS WILL AND MURDERING ITS PEOPLE. WHAT MOST PEOPLE DO IS THEIR BUSINESS, BUT I'VE ORDERED MY PEOPLE NOT TO GO THERE.

  4. Let's see.  The U.S. has for a century been the largest polluter in the world.  In the last couple of years, while we've been pouring our money into Iraq, China has been enjoying explosive growth in manufacturing and other industries.  Still polluting far less per capita than the U.S., of course, but recently the largest polluter overall.  Let's just all forget about the damage the U.S. has done for decades, and focus instead on any EXCUSE to avoid responsibility.  After all, we certainly don't want to be inconvenienced ...

  5. I didn't realize it was illegal to buy Buicks and SUV's in the US.   Who has forced you to recycle?   Just because those who recycle might pay less in some places for trash service doesn't mean you are being forced to do it.   If you prop up the chinese economy buying their trash, thats your own fault.

  6. Didn't you know capitalists are to blame??  Once the capitalists are overthrown, a brand new world will open up with fairies and chocolate galore...

  7. Well said! My mama taught me not to make fun of people, but the greenies really need to be.

  8. The U.S. already has more laws, policies and mandates than any other country in the world.

Only half of all the hibrid vehicles sold today are more fuel effecient than their non-hibrid originals.

  9. From what I know, The United States pollutes up to 30% more than any other countries on the planet. Although yes we americans don't want to give up our luxuries, one way or another as a whole (entire world) we are all responsible and no matter what China is doing we all need to do our best to help stop global warming. Things that my fiance' and I are trying to stop using paper plates, paper towels. We bougth new light bulbs, and have started turning off everything when we don't use them, using a clothes line instead of a drier(depending on where you live it's easier to maintain the clothes line) and no driving unless necessary. I do totally agree with you about selling them hybrids, but they are so expensive and for a country who makes pretty much all of our products their people don't make much money. (Rent the movie "who killed the electric car") I think we may need to be able to dictate how things are done whether they like it or not, but that is what lobbyists are doing to us. Basically we all need to change.

  10. If you have a way to force China to change, let's hear it.

We do not appear to be forced to buy more efficient cars. We have not been doing it. We have been running out of fuel.

You are right that a good argument cfan be made that we should stop buying anyuthing from any country that pollutes more than we do, even if they pollute less on a per capita basis. That right now means just China. But at the same time we have to stop selling so much to them.

Because Canada does more polluting on a per capita basis, USA should cut off  Canada, stop buying from Canada until Canada pollutes less per capita. The first thing to cut off is imports of fossil fuels. After all, Canada is a major supplier of fossil fuels used in USA.

Reality is of course that the total fleet of cars in China does use far less fuel on a per vehicle mile basis than does the USA. If China were to switch to  high efficiency cars, they might not be coming from the USA. USA standards are too low.

American hybrids in particular are not up to Japanese standards. America might have gone with its own Hypercar, and so have had 100 mpg, ahead of any current hybrid. But that is not what Detroit wants to  sell. Blame China for that.

  11. a journey of a mile begins with a single step - though it seems impossible to save the earth now, i think we really have to do our own part so it will deteriorate in a lesser speed :))

seriously, it won't hurt if we would give mother nature a hand.
