  1. France is big into Nuc Power and does recycle much of its fuel material yet this past month has also had four radiation leakage accidents.

Latest number of accidents this year: France's Nuclear Safety Authority classified the Tricastin accident as minor, a 1 on a scale of 0 to 7. Areva suggested the second incident should be labeled a level 1 accident as well.

Borloo, putting the problems in context, said there were 86 level-1 incidents in France in 2007, and 114 in 2006.

This comes from a country that knows what they are doing with Nuc's, imagine the lesser users.

Fortunately, there are better more affordable and less risky alternatives to Nuc's.

  2. About 80% of their electricity and 40% of their energy is from nuclear power (which doesn't cause global warming).

France is also trying to switch more of their energy usage to electricity which will allow them to reduce CO2 emissions (since much of what isn't electric is oil or natural gas).

It should also be noted that nuclear power is the only low emissions technology that has actually been proven to be able to handle the needs of an entire country reliably.  Right now it's also the cheapest clean energy source (and no one has come up with anything better yet, though fusion is being worked on (couple of decades away)).

  3. Nuclear power primarily, enough to sell to neighbors...they are way ahead in the energy solution....we (the U.S.) should follow their lead....

  4. The smart way-nuclear. They have reduced their dependency on foreign oil.
