Put on your thinking cap:  Where does agriculture thrive:  What is the effect of living in a flood plain (good for farming - flooding is a problem).  Mountains have a huge effect on transport costs, not good for agriculture, but good for defences.  Society needs good infrastructure - transport, power, water.  Trade needs good links - ports, rivers etc. Think about nomadic lifestyles - why do people need to migrate. Geology is also significant - resources etc.  There is masses to think about, but you must do the work yourself.
