  1. the roots

  2. I really don't think this will get you any stars, but good luck.

  3. Grass comes from seed. The seed gets wet, swells and cracks open. The seed sends out a root which sets it firmly in the ground and the blade of grass develops from that which with millions of other seeds doing the same thing, form turf grass.

  4. grasses grow in many ways.  one is by seed.  Very simple.  The parent plant puts up a flower that seeds and the seed grows new grass.  Like wheat.  Some grasses ( like crab grass ) grow from an extended root system. It grows right below the soil and sprouts new plants as it goes.

  5. I think your question deserves better answers than it got.  You have really asked a great question.

Grasses are not like other plants-trees for example, in that grasses grow from the base of the plant up rather than from the tip of the plant up.

Imagine drawing  a pencil line on a grass blade about an inch off the ground.  In about a week the line would be 2 inches off the ground because the grass grows from the ground up.

Now, imagine putting a line about 4 feet off the groundon a tree trunk..  Come back in 25 years and the line will STILL be 4 feet off the ground because of the way a tree grows - from the tip of the branches out.

Thats why you can mow grass and it keeps growing but if you cut a tree down it does not re-grow.

It has to do with the difference between monocots and dicots which is the fancy name for grasses and leafy plants like trees, and their growth habits.

It was a very good question.
