How does homeschooling work??

Question

i want to get home schooled but i dont even now how it works

my friend says she has a friend who is homeschooled

she says that every 3 weeks she goes to some place and they give her all the work that she has to do then 3 weeks later she has to turn it in and get all the other work

she says its cool cuz she wakes up at whatever time she wants and could stay up all night cuz she dont have to go to school at 8

is that really how some of them work

i know there are some on the internet how do those work do you just study and do test on the internet i dont think my parents would like that because im a be going on to other sites and not doing my work and i dont really trust ppl in the internet or stuff like that

if you are home schooled can you tell me what you do ??
