  1. Most air conditioning systems need a means to reduce humidity -- which is simply done by the same cooling coils that chill the air.  Excess moisture is condensed out on the coils and conducted to a drain.


  2. An air conditioner will cool air by first removing sensible heat (heat measured with a thermometer) and then the latent heat, the heat associated with moisture in the air (humidity). It will take more cooling to adequately cool a room down when the room has a high humidity load.
