  1. Ibuprofen belongs to a class of drugs known as NSAIDS, or Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs that reduce pain, fever, and inflammation. It works by inhibiting the enzyme known as COX-2. This enzyme is responsible for the "pain" that you feel. It does not matter where the location of the pain is, because this same enzyme is responsible for pain wherever it is located. So, when ibuprofen is ingested and this enzyme is blocked, you don't feel the sensation of "pain."

  2. Ibuprofen is a widely used non-narcotic pain reliever.Like other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), ibuprofen works by blocking the production of substances in the body that cause pain and inflammation.
