  1. I read something about this...I wanna think it was something about distilled water not freezing at 0 degrees Celsius but bacteria (some kind of Pseudomonas) causing the water to freeze at that temp. It even had an experiment to perform proving that distilled water wouldn't freeze at 0 degrees.   I'll see if I can find the articles for you

    Anyways the line of thinking is that impurities give the ice something to form on or around.
