  5. India, officially the Republic of India is a sovereign nation in South Asia. It is the seventh largest country by geographical area, the second most populous country, and the most populous democracy in the world.[13] Bounded by the Indian Ocean on the south, the Arabian Sea on the west, and the Bay of Bengal on the east, India has a coastline of 7,517 kilometers (4,671 mi).[14] It borders Pakistan to the west;[15] China, Nepal, and Bhutan to the north-east; and Bangladesh and Burma to the east. In the Indian Ocean, India is in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Indonesia. India has 28states and 7 union territories, India ranks 2nd in the more population next to china, agriculture is the backbone of india, Good in IT field, best doctors are there in India, Many historical monuments in India, one of the world wonder 'Tajmahal' is in india only, so many temples in india, cant explain about india in words,,, please come and visit india2008,,

  6. India is a land of whole and soul, in the sense you will find everything here with respect to every attribute in life.

Variety is spice here and deviation is generic.

You will find the richest person in the world and also the poorest. You see the most deviations in all angles of life.

There are about twenty official languages you see here and as many ancient religions surviving here. Integrety in diversity is the one you notice everywhere.

Ganges, the great river of India, surrounding which great ancient civilizations grew up, flows here for the ages. For those creative, there are much more places along Ganges, to see, inhale, swallow and live with. Originated in the great Indian Himalayan mountains, the journey passes till it joins the Bay of Bengal.

You will notice prominently three seasons: Summar, Autumn and Winter. You also notice a great variation in landscape across the country from mountains to great plains, from deserts to long rivers. Travelling across is a feeling one has to keep up for life time.

There are variety of foods you will find here that carried through ages and cultures. South Indian dishes are world famous and one must taste them to describe.

There are many monuments and ruins left that came through ages and generations to cultures. You can hear the sounds of people who lived those years and feel the emotions when you touch and can talk to the things if you have a soul to understand these.

After all, it depends on how you percieve your surroundings.

  7. well India is my homeland so i know that India is really beautiful. It has the scenic backwaters of Kerala and Hill Stations(as we call it) in Ooty, Simla, and many other states of India..then there are places like goa, konkan with all its beaches, and desserts like Rajasthan with all its rich heritage of Palaces..a colorful state of Gujarat, then there is Madras with all its ancient Indian temples. punjab with rich green fields...You have everthing in one country...mountains to hike, beaches for your vitamin D and to tan yourself...it snows in north india...I think i have covered pretty much of India but India has more than these scenic beauties..it is the only land in earth (as far as i know!!) where we speak different languages but yet bound to each other....

  9. I've been to India twice for work and unfortunately very short stays but I can give you some impressions...

It's a beautiful, vibrant place.  Wonderfully chaotic and colorful.  Lots of noise, hard-breathing air and cows. The people are incredibly honest and to the point -which I love and they are so incredibly beautiful that it's mystifying.

I was amazed by the diversity of religions there (every major religion is represented and many others such as Jainism, Zoroastrianism, Sikhism, etc..) and yet everyone seemed to respect each other.

One thing: The poverty was very hard to take.  I flew in Mumbai and I took a taxi to the city - 90 minute ride at 2:00AM. I saw men, women and children sleeping on the street the entire ride in. I had never seen something like that before - it left a big impact on me. That may be tough to take the 1st time you go.  As horrible as this may sound, everyone I met/encountered had incredible dignity - no matter what their station.  We could learn a thing or 2 from that.

  10. really pretty but the food isnt
