  1. Sometimes if you have a felony charge you can petition for misdemeanor treatment.

It affects when you are trying to get a job, which is the big reason people petition. Lots of employers don't hire felons.

  2. a lot, see if you can write a letter telling why the felony is there, some times that helps.

  3. Can't vote, can't own or possess a weapon.

  4. being a felon can effect your life in many ways like not being able to vote and every job application I have seen asks have you been a felon and they say this won't effect your getting the job and everyone knows that is a big lie!  Going for a job being a felon against a non felon chances are the non felon will get the job hands down

  5. The serious problem would arise if you were applying for a permit to carry a gun concealed. You'll get rejected. Come back in 10 years and try again. Also jobs potentials could be few and far in between. So it would be in your best interest that if you find a job and they don't have a problem with your felony, hang on to the job for dear life.

Other then that, most of your rights are retained.
