  1. If you are in the United States you can contact your local Civil Air Patrol Squardon. They occasionally give orientation rides in airplanes at no cost.

Generally, the only time you feel much of anything is on takeoff. It's much like a ride. You get pushed back in your seat as the airplane accelerates and climbs. A 747 has a take off speed of around 175mph and cruises between 450 and 550mph, but once you are no longer accelerating you don't feel anything except the hum of the airplane. If you hit turbulence it feels bumpy.

  2. The EAA take people interested in flying up for free. These flights are called Young Eagles flights that's how I got started and really interested in aviation. I cant explain the sensation of flight its too cool you have to do that yourself! You also should get in contact with a local EAA chapter.

  3. im learning to fly right now and its the greatest thing!   look for a local airport and see if they offer flight school.  if they do then there is a good chance that they also offer discovery flights.  these are little half hour "mini" lessons where you will sit in the pilots seat (right seat)  and the instructor will let you fly the plane and just mainly get the feeling and exhileration of flight.  if you wanna be a pilot i highly recommend you do this!  when i had mine (was a b-day present from my mom)  i couldnt  NOT take flying lessons!   good luck  and cya later.

  4. It can't be described.  You have to go do it.

Most Fixed Base Operators that offer flight training also offer an introductory flight at a reduced price.  Look in the Yellow Pages under "flight instruction."

I think that's better than saying that it's like having warm caramel sauce poured down the back of your neck by an angel.  Easier to clean up after, too.
