When the Government hikes interest rates leading to more EMI's on your mortgage, it adds even more misery to your bleak existence. No more degrees of freedom and a hopeless vicious cycle is what you inherit.

  1. The best way to fix this debt problem is to first figure out what is left in your Mortgage Amortization cycle by using a mortgage amortization chart. This is the amortization chart website I use :

If your earning alot of money as stated above, try making extra payments to pay off your mortgage quicker with less interest paid.

  2. I know the feeling.. and you feel even worse if you only have a contract job.. and that contract job ends .. then you really get stressed and get sleepless nights.. you are still young.. I know it's hard.. but believe me.. once you are 45 and you have to face this situation it looks a lot bleaker still .. one seems to just not manage until retirement then.. you can do it.. it means a lot of sacrifice.. but you can.. if you have a partner who also works that helps a lot... You know that not many people are so lucky to own a house at your age.. I remember when I was a kid, my dad and mom could think of having their house built when my dad was 42. It took both of them working to pay the mortgage off in 20 years... Now my husband and I have a house in Canada..and we only bought it in 2002.. it was 2 years old by then.. it was not newlay built for us.. now he's 50 I am 45 and the debts and the mortgage we have to pay.. we won't see this paid off before retirement.. He got a contract job. that runs out this September and he is a computer technician.. I have a part time job. and who do we have to leave it to.. Nobody.. we have no children... You are young, you either have a parter or you will find a partner. you can have a family you will leave this to.. My family are over in Europe.. and I don't want to go back there.. One day when my parents die, which I hope will not be for some time, I will inherit their house, then I can sell their house... it's in the countryside. It was nice to grow up there as a kid but I would not want to live there being old and maybe ill... no shop in the  village.. just one shop that is a bakery and they also have a mini post office and you can get magazines and lottery tickets. and 4 pubs. that is the village.. My mom has to walk every time she needs something and to the pharmacist it's a couple of miles... not nice if your legs don't want to do the walking anymore..  so far she manages... and the supermarket is about that far..and that means either take a bus or walk in any weather... and my husband gets sleepless nights how we here in Canada manage to deal with the debts and his having this contract job.. what if he is unemployed again for 9 months like he was last year... that's tough.. and we were a lot older and haven't got it under control.. LOL and nobody to leave it to .. that's the most stupid thing.. apart from a cat.. a cat will inherit 2 houses.... If you got a great job and your partner does.. and at your age.. you can pay all of this off within a certain foreseeable time.. not like thinking...''will I have to sell and live in the street when I turn 65 like us..and if you have children, it's a sacrifice with a purpose.. or like my dad. he was lucky to retire at age 59.. the mortgage was paid off almost by then.. and from 60 onward he got a good pension.. he travels every year for some weeks to some place abroad.. and he is 80 now.. I was not lucky enough to be able to have children.. it was not that we didn't want any..Maybe better considering our finances but I am sure they would still be thought of before all else I only mean, had we had kids we couldn't have immigrated to Canada in the year 2000 they would have been young still then around 10 years old or younger..x*x

    Good luck x*x
