How does it feel to get penalized for a fence that will never work?

it seems to be a great way of making more money off of us..hasnt worked yet,no fence will.so why do we all get penalized for an impossible task.how is taxing us to death going to help the problem?how is hating them going to help?is everyone to scared to ask the government "why tax us to death for something you cannot stop?"

You guys know diddly squat about the Military (they have a thing called 'fire discipline')and a symbol (A fence) is not going to keep an illegal out. The fence is a waste and the taxpayer is getting screwed. A determined person can go around, under or over a fence. Our laws are symbolic enough, spend more money on enforcing the law and less money on pork belly bull$hit and you'll see the illegal population decline.

The fences do work.

They reduce illegal immigration of people skipping the serious contagious disease checks, the felony background checks, etc.

It's like disease (not the people, the situation, figuratively), or drugs, or terrorism.

NO, you will NEVER stop it.  Disease will still affect your body, damage you and eventually will likely kill you.

You want to stop taking medicine and going to the doctor?

Can't win, but it sure beats giving in.

Is everyone too scared to ask the government to apply the laws fairly to all potential immigrants?

If what we have here is so great (and it is), then why should proximity to the border and opportunity to cross be the deciding factor in who gets in?

I don't have to hate someone just because I think they should follow the rules.

Many people rally around the idea of a fence and support it because it is a concrete and tangible sign that we are serious about controlling the border.  No one said that it is the most efficient method, just that absent any other action to control the border, at least you can see what you are getting.  Many people are tired of the run around that legislatures are doing by not actively addressing this issue.

more than angry it makes me feel stupid among my non american friends which are IN and OUT the US, I have an Israeli friend that told me about the fence they build in the west bank and gaza and he knows it doesnt work, make things better, thats only a couple miles, compare that to 1200 miles.

my German friends, yes i have friends in east germany, also think its ridiculous they saw it fell and they know it wont work and they all say the same thing its not just a few kms. its thousands and thousands of miles

Someone just mention it reduces it, that does not mean Solution plus we have to consider cost and effect and see if its actually productive, I have said this 100s of times unless Mexico becomes much wealthier this wont stop and keep in mind their economy continues to grow

What the heck are you talking about?

Putting up a border fence will send the message that we are serious about stopping illegals coming into the country that way.

Even if it just symbolic, it will go a long way.

the facts on the ground disagree with you, San Diego border fence cut illegal crossing in that area to 90%....The new 700 miles of border fence will slow down illegal aliens...

All they need to do is finish the fence, declare the road between the two fences a military zone and run regular patrols through, stopping all invaders and using whatever force the military deems necessary for defending this country against this illegal alien invasion.  The military would not be held up like the Border Patrol and I am sure if rocks were thrown at them, they would love to return the favor in lead!  

Oust the leaders in our congress that refuse to defend this country and keep the American Citizen safe.

:Your right hate isn't going to solve anything. It's just people are so frustrated! We have stated over and over what we want and our government is ignoring us. The only thing they are willing to do is put up a fence. So we get a fence. Does it work? Depends on what story you read. I for one want the benefits stopped to green card holders and anchor babies. I  do not believe a child born to two foreign nationals with no ties to the US should be a citizen. And I certainly do not believe illegals are doing the work no one here will do . Who did that work 20 years ago?

We get screwed by our government day in and day out.  Its a smoke screen to appease.  The only way to stop the invasion is to take away the incentives for coming here and replace them with harsh punishments for those who come here illegally, those who hire them, support them, hide them etc... and then enforce the darned laws already in place.

Getting the politicians who are pandering to them out of office wouldnt hurt either.

Well for those of us who actually live in the areas infested with Illegals we know the fence is working as the facts clearly prove. Between the fence and increased patrols illegals are being forced further out in more inhospitable regions of the deserts or they're trying to sneak in via boats now. Why do those who don't live in the problem areas think their opinion matters ?
