Think about the mistakes/successes of the past and decide if there are ways to prevent the mistakes in the present day or see what was successful and how we might be going off track in the present day and could use some information from the past to help us make a success of today.

Also, as we learn about our past, we can sometimes make decisions about our present.  For example, we can learn from mistakes made in the past so that we don't make the same mistakes again.
