I would look particularly at the safety and efficiency of air travel, if I were to estimate effects of low-cost airlines...those savings surely need to be coming off from somewhere right? But where? Over-worked employees? Lowered quality in numerous services and goods?

It has forced legend airlines to find ways to reduce costs. It has forced them to do more with less. To change the hub and wheel operation. It has given consumers more choices and better prices. It has given chances to travel for people who could not afford it before. It has changed the percepcion that flying is for tht rich and now it is for everyone.
