In Canada part of our taxes obviously goes to road repair/public transit. But, public transit money comes from individual municipalities. Why is Toronto's so terrible compared to neighboring cities like Vaughn and Richmondhill? Also, It seems the city likes to spend as little as possible fixing these roads. How does my tax dollar get distributed to help public transit/ road repair?

  1. The big problem is people don't like to live where they work and the distances are too far for transit to take the slack and government won't start something and push it through to solve it.. You say Toronto's is terrible it could just be  because you are not paying enough taxes . In Toronto the average is around the $2500 area where as Oshawa is paying an average of $5750 .. There are no communities where this can be the answer. and the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

  2. Unfortunately, society always has issues with all aspects of infrastructure.  This includes roads, education, hospitals, police... you name it.  Typically, the bigger the city the worse the infrastructure because tax money tends to have to be distributed much more in larger cities.  The only way to get a legitimate answer would be to contact your local public policy planners in government.

Europe has been plagued with ridiculous petrol prices for years; public transit infrastructure makes up for their petrol prices.
