How does my company track me through my mobile phone?

Apparently they go on a website, enter my mobile number and it gives them a GPS reference of where I am. Similar to what the AA and RAC use i suppose when locating stranded motorists. But what is this website and can anyone do it?

its cuz ur phone prob has a built in gps tracker

it's secure. no anyone can't do it. just the people who pay to have it done. my gf works for a door company and they monitor the trucks the guys use. it's the same thing. they know everything.

through the cell phone provider and you have to be an 'administrator' to access this info

They can only do this if they issued the phone to you.  If it is your personal phone, they should not be able to do it.  And no, anybody cannot do it, a password is required and the website depends on the phone company and client.
