Question:

How does my vocal range look?

I just started voice lessons the other day. I've always been told that I could sing, so I decided to take lessons to make my talent even better.

My chest voice alone was 3.5 octaves. Is that good? I couldn't quite grasp the idea of head voice, but my teacher said that if I can successfully utilize my chest and head voice, that I could have quite an impressive range...

I just wanna know what the normal ranges are, I guess, and to compare with other people.

  1. Depends on how old you are. But yes thats good

When my brother was 18 he had a 4 octave range and he is now getting call backs from broadway musical directors

  2. That's a very good range, especially for someone just starting out.  In my opinion though, quality of range is what is most important. Getting the main couple of octaves really solid, full and beautiful is what will get you somewhere.  Sounds like you're off to a great start, stick with it, and everything (range and tone) will come with time and practice.  Good luck!

  3. That depends on where it starts. For me it's C1, all the way up to C#6. HIgher notes are easier to reach for than lower notes.

  4. I would recommend you to talk to some Professionals or Judges who were in the singing competitions panel

Here are some Singing contests and Competitions listed... please check out and try to reach the right people to get an honest and True answer. let me know if it helps you.
