  1. The purpose of AlCl3 is to catalize the reaction and form (CH3)3C^+ ion

    AlCl3 + (CH3)3C-Cl  ------> (CH3)3C^+  + AlCl4^-

    n-hexane as an alcane is very inactive (stabile) and hardly take part in few king of reactions that need very large energy, ( as with Cl2 unred light)

    I guess in this case  AlCl4^- will attack the n-hexane and it will be formed chlorohexane

    CH3(CH2)4CH3 +  AlCl4^-    ---------> CH3(CH2)4CH2Cl + AlCl3

    Something like that but I am not sure:(
