How does normal traits are inherited and how s*x linked traits are inherited?

sexual traits:  thru the genetic makeup.  eg  since dominant genes may not always be inherited, the chain of inheritance  may be  broken in direction from the older to younger.   darker pattern gene can produce a lesser pattern but never the other way around.  

dominant modifier gene can produce a lesser dominant but never the other way around.  

dominant type gene will always be seen and it should be traceable back in an un-broken chain to its origin / ancestry.

normal traits is best explained perhaps not accurately but in this analogy:  

many of us suffer fr heart disease due to our consumption of red meat.  my paternal side dont live beyond 60yrs.  so i change my diet and that of my children.  i have defied the genetic pattern and dont hv any heart disease yet.  so these modified traits are now inherited and passed on perhaps to my children.
