  1. First of all do well at school.

Then go to university and study law (usually a Bachelor of Laws degree combined with another degree such as Arts, Science, Commerce etc).

Find somewhere to complete your "articles" or in some states do the post graduate course in legal practice.

    Seel admission as a solicitor

Most often spend some years working as a solicitor (best in a top or upper tier firm).

After building lots of experience and reputation, go off and do the Barristers reading course as run by the Bar Association in your State.

Following signing of the Bar roll (and thus ability to practice at the Bar), develop your practice as a Barrister (usually one would specialise in a particular area of law).

Build up plenty of experience at the Bar, be measured and steady and reliable... perhaps after another 10 or so years you might even become a Senior Counsel (i.e. take silk).

After a bit more time and through your then well developed network you might make it known that you would be open to invitations to go to the "Bench" and thus become (in your words) a judge.

Once selected however, there is more study to do, and a whole lot of steps to go through...
