I mean professionally, how can one get a PhD in anthropology. I would assume (for me) go to a community college, pass general education then on to a University. But I have a learning disability in math and cannot pass general education math class.

  1. Don't ask me, I'm still trying to figure out how to become  a gynaecologist.  I always thought that would be a job with oodles of job satisfaction!

But seriously. I wish you the best of luck. Anthropology is a really worthwhile and fullfilling career to go into.

  2. Don't worry about your math problem many of us Anthropologist are not that great when it comes to math. All you really need it is to understand how to add and subtract so you can pay back all your loans!  I agree with the first person who said that maybe you don't have a learning disability in math. I think you can do it too, if you keep the right attitude. If math is such  a problem for you then, when you go to school, get a tutor. Most colleges, weather community or University, have math tutors, in many situations if you're in a lower math class, the tutor sessions are free. Look into that & Good Luck with your PhD!

  3. To become an anthropologist will cause you to overcome all kinds of apprehensions.  Perhaps you just "think" you're bad at math, when in fact you just need the right teacher, and the right frame of mind.  If you do it for yourself, rather than because someone thinks you have to, you just might find a better way.  Maybe the math thing is just an apprehension more than a disability. I think you can do anything you set your mind out to do. I say, "go for it."  You've already got a plan started, and it's good to have a plan!

  4. I graduated with a degree in Anthropology. Trust me. You don't need to be that good in math. Just basics. What you need to study better is Chemistry & Physics. (includes math though)
