How does one become more photogenic?

I'm always embarassed, I look good in real life, but when I take pictures I always seem to be the one with a screwed up face. I'm serious, NONE of my pictures ever turn out good. WHY? How do I take better pictures????

Hi Akira.    You can take good pictures if you just stop thinking about the camera in your face,  cause then you want to act like you think will look good... and it winds up looking bad.  Am I right?   You can be more photogenic by practicing...  the more you do something,  the better you get at it.   I am not very photogenic... I won't lie about that.  But my daugher is so photogenic,  it seems like she was born looking straight into the camera lens; all of the time,  every shot.   Just for fun and for practice,  have someone you know, preferably a family member,  take picture after picture of you..  every day.  Now remember,  this is to help you to get better pics of yourself.  The more pics you do, the easier it will be for you to face the camera in all situations.   Take pics of you smiling and not smiling.  Look directly into the camera.  Look to the left or right in the shots to get an ideal which side your face looks better than the other.. that is a real consideration, too.   And when you must have a professional photo session,  be sure to set up an appointment with the photographer to let him know you are usually nervous when having pictures taken of you.   He should then be  able to calm you down with a little chit chat while he is shooting you.   Just practice... and you can develop your photogenic self.    =))

Just relax and try to have fun when the picture is being taken.  I had a friend that would always make messed up faces when I would try and take her picture finally one day I snapped on of her without her knowing that I was taking one and the photo is great.  She actually liked the results, so if you can imagine your self with out the camera there.

Just let the picture happen with out your mind getting in the way to mess up the picture.
