How does one correctly position goalie pads for street hockey?

When one is putting them on, should one put the extra roll of padding on the outside of the leg or on the inside of the leg?

I have seen pictures of both. It seems like it should be on the inside because one falls to the ground on the inside of one's legs, but ice hockey goalies seem to wear them with the extra padding on the outside.

  1. PADS... STREET HOCKEY?   kids today play it to safe lol.

Usually there is an L and an R on the pads, id be suprised if it wasnt on one of the tags somewhere.

  2. I preferred the inside because it was a rare instance if a puck went off the outside of my leg.

The other advantage is that the extra padding helps when you are trying to snuff a shot through the five hole - when you are on your knees and the puck is between the pads.

  3. Do they still thread the straps the same way they do on ice pads or catcher's shin guards?  It used to be that the buckles would go on the outside of your legs.  I cannot remember whether they used to come that way or if we used to rethread the straps ourselves.  That prevents the buckles from catching when you move your legs together.
