  1. If you don't have a miter saw then you can grab one of those box shaped devices from the home improvement store for about $3 that have slots in them that allow you to place the end of the molding in it at the right place for you to cut the correct angle and a hacksaw or other smaller saw to fit in the grooves.. Just make sure that you know exactly which way you need to cut it before you cut. Check thrice cut once is an excellent philosophy.

  2. On crown molding that angles off the wall and the ceiling and not laid flat against is a compound angle..You have to cut 45 degrees in two directions at once...A simple 45 with it laid flat on the cut will not work you have to angle the blade on a 45 side tilt too as well as the straight up and down tilt 45.

  3. Use a miter box or miter saw.  Put  it in upside down.  The base acts as the ceiling.

  4. It depends on whether it is for an inside or an outside corner.
