Question:

How does one define the "domain" in [applied] anthropology?

I don't really get it. Would it be like impact assessment or planning or cultural brokerage sort of thing? Or are there other key words?

I missed that class in my seminar, and I've been confused ever since. Help!

I think you've got a pretty good grasp of it.  Basically, applied anthropology is using ethnographic research techniques to solve a problem.  For instance, I recently did a project for an insurance company that was preparing to completely restructure its offices.  I interviewed employees and found ways to make the transition as smooth as possible.  I'm about to start working with another group to help them rewrite the list of interview questions to remove any cultural ambiguities.  Applied anthropology is an extremely diverse field.
