Question:

How does one detoxify the body without drinking things they're allergic to (such as lemon)?

Does the body have to be detoxed with something it can't stand, or will it get sick. What do you do after you detoxed it so you don't get sick; how do you maintain your chemical balance (electrolytes and potassium, for example) after a body purge. I never did one, and want to know how, without hearing "Just drink cinnamon, lemon, ginger, and maple syrup."

  1. Don't purge, just eat healthy.

  2. Your body detoxifies itself. There is nothing special you need to do.

No, the body does not need to be detoxed with something it can't stand. Your body maintains its chemical balance by a complex system of balancing called homeostasis.

Most things that are claimed to detoxify are cures for nonexistent problems.

  3. There are quite a number of ingredients you can use to detox your system. The formulation you've mentioned is actually one of the fad diets... someone just tossed a few cleansers in with maple syrup (to keep your blood sugar up) so you can starve yourself without getting too dizzy or weak too quickly. It's not generally considered healthy or a good idea to starve yourself as a diet, though. That specific plan has no inclusion of basic nutrients (including the electrolytes), so your body will leech them from elsewhere when they are needed... that's one big reason it's so bad for you.

That being said, if you take something you're allergic to, that won't really help the same way it's intended, so you shouldn't take it. If you want to detoxify your system to get some of the excess junk out of your system (from processed foods, drugs, chemicals, and whatever else builds up in your body over time), there are several natural products you can take. Specifically, Apple Cider Vinegar, Green Tea (decaffeinated), Chlorophyll (fantastic cleanser), and even good amounts of fiber and water helps some people (although it's not very comfortable for the lower level of detoxification you get).

Yes, in general, your body keeps itself in a balance, but oftentimes we overwhelm it with things it can't handle... that's when it needs some help from cleansers. If nothing else, most people don't have enough fiber in their diet, so their body can't eliminate everything it needs to on a regular basis. Good luck!

  4. It depends on what level of detox that you need. The body naturally produces a substance called glutathione. One of the main benefits of this is that it aides in detoxification of the body, especially the liver. The problem for most people is that they don't get enough of the building blocks (certain essential amino acids) from their food to produce enough glutathione, especially as they age.

The main reason we don't get the essential amino acids that we need, is because we cook most of our protein. Heat breaks down organic molecules. Unless you drink something like raw milk all of the time, you are likely deficient. The best source that I know of for providing the essential amino acids is to take a 100% bio-available whey protein isolate. Unless you are one of the rare people who have an alergy to whey protein, there should be no problem with this whole food (also FDA approved as GRAS). But do not confuse whey protein concentrate with whey protein isolate - that is the key to if they are rich in the essential amino acids your body needs.

Hope this is beneficial for you.
