the original pattern (off the top of my head) goes like this:

ch 4. then in 2nd chain from hook do a single crochet. repeat until you get to the end. then in the last chain do 4 single crochets.

does that mean i have to make a chain then do the sc?

if anyone knows please clarify, thanks!

  1. If what you are remembering is accurate, then yes, you work 4 chains in the last chain as the other person said. Do you have a link to the pattern?

It might be a tight fit in that last chain, but usually they can stretch. You will see some patterns where a hat is begun by working all the stitches into the chain. They somehow do fit.

  2. It sounds incorrect to me. typically one would chain 4 at the end then turn their fabric.

4 SC in a single stitch would give a tight bunch or knot effect. I don't have a hook and wool handy to try it, but it would be very "bunchy"... (pardon the choice of word).

  3. Yes, you have to make a chain, then do a sc in each chain, and 4 at the end, then go up the other side.  Like making a leaf.

  4. You do a single crochet in the last chain.  Then you do three more sc in the same stitch.  You always go into the same chain.

  5. chained 4?  then put a single crochet in the second chain from hook.  repeat until you get to the end - that will be the third and fourth chain (which is also the last chain)  put 3 more singles in the same hole as that last single for a total of 4 sc in last chain.

sounds odd, though, re-read the pattern to make sure.....
