  1. Get on bike clip in.  Ride around a bit and then proceed to slow down.  Next make sure both pedals are in 900 and 300 position. Stand out of saddle, make sure handlebars are straight.  Balance my boy, is the key.

  2. Like the one answer, try it uphill first, nothing too steep, a good driveway.

Go up the line of the incline, then slowly veer off a little about an 'hour' or so.  While standing, and as you loose momentum, turn the wheel in the opposite direction almost 90'.  Your feet should be even, with your off foot forward.-- if your right handed, the bike should be pointing a little to the right, the front wheel left, and your left foot forward, essentially in a left-turn position.

Apply pressure forward, and let the bike fall back into that pressure by letting the pressure off the pedal, it will rotate the crank upwards/backwards into your foot, since you're on an incline the bike will want to roll back.  Slowly balance the pedal pressure with the rolling caused by the incline.  Rock the bars if you need to, be comfortable and relax.

On flat surfaces, I tend to find blemishes in the road such as pavement changes or weight depressions to use as the 'incline' to press the front wheel into.

On flatter areas, I usually look for nooks in the roads, or humps, then use that to balance out the pressure I'm applying on the pedals to go forward.

As you get better you should be able to do them sitting, and even no handed.

    HTH

  3. It is easiest to learn by going up a slight hill, go slow, then even slower till you stop. This takes lots of practice, use the brakes, load the pedals and turn the handle bars to help.

  4. slow down stop and balance....then fall down, have person in car spill coffee on themselves from laughter.  Get up red faced and embarrassed and do it again (trying not to fall down this time).  Still can't get that last part right yet.....

  5. First try riding VERY slowly and kepping blance and then move on to trying to do the same thing but no moving
