How does one gain weight?

Let me explain what I mean by this.

I weigh about 150 pounds, and some of that is muscle mass from weight lifting.

I run/elliptical 5 times a week for 30min.

I eat about 1500 calories, some days I eat about 1800 though or more.

I eat a lot some days, like over 3000 calories, but I always work out the next day. Those are the days I drink and have munchies, but those are maybe once a week, but last week it was four times. I dont think I gained weight but I sure feel like I did.

Will I gain weight from doing this?

I guess I dont really know what I am asking, I am really confused about food and working out:( Any info would help, thanks

  1. You need to look at weight control as a long term issue.  You should not concern yourself too much with day to day caloric intake.

That being said, though, you would benefit from eating more than 1500 calories on some days.  I assume you are deliberately trying to restrict caloric intake?  This number is too low, and may be why you are binging on 3000 calories on other days.

Also, 3500 calories equals one pound.
