How does one get out of jury duty?

I cannot miss work I need to attempt to keep current on my mortgage

I think some places do if put on the public expense account.

City Hall may put up the money if the situation is brought up.

There is a fund for things such as jury duty.

An exemption for Civic Duty may be arranged between the City and The Bank. Other than that Community Currency made by computer is a possibility. Perhaps The City Coucil can hear of such at a meeting if the other possibilities do not work.

I suggest having your employer write a letter to the court...saying it would cause the company a hardship having you gone for jury duty.  Shouldn't be a problem....they will most likely excuse you. Best of luck!

You can claim you are insane, not of sound mind.  

One does not get out of jury duty because of mortgage or no transportation.

Sorry, we all have mortgages to pay.  Missing work is at the top of the list of excuses that will NOT get you out of jury duty.

A small payment for transportation expenses is pretty standard.

Just don't go. They have no proof you got the Jury Duty letter. I throw mine away and never had a problem.

Let's put it this way.  Either you show up at the appointed time for jury duty or a police car drives up to your place of work or your residence one day and TAKES you before the judge, who will probably give you a really serious lecture.

Despite the one person who doesn't take jury duty seriously among the answers I saw, I can tell you that it is a very serious public offence punishable by jail time and a fine if you try to scoff your jury duty.  It is not cool.
