My little dog has kidney failure and I keep furniture covered, however, I missed a spot this morning and he accidentally peed on my brand new light blue recliner. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

  1. Go to a pet store and ask them for a pet urine neutralizer. It's a spray.

  2. I personally have used pet sprays from the pet store and found it extreamly expensive.  I have found it more cost effective to steam clean it with bissell pet clean formula.  It smells like oranges, and works better than the pet sprays.  Just make sure you get as much water out of your furniture as you can and then let it air dry or dry under a fan.  This worked for me!

  3. The pet sprays aren't too expensive. I keep a spray bottle of Natures Miracle at all times. I have a big refill jug so that when it gets empty I just go refill it. It has enzymes that actually eat away all the pee. I have three cats and had one that just died from kidney failure from diabetes so I know what you are and will be going through. You need to have some Natures Miracle on hand. I highly recommend it.

  4. There is a product called  Enzyme T  which should do the job with no problem.  It is sold by the Tesch Chemical Company in Manasha, Wisconsin - phone number  (800) 822-7331 .  It is safe to use on fabrics and carpets because it is enzyme based (no harsh chemicals).

The enzymes eat the urine and salts that are in the stained area and once it's dry the odor should be gone.  We had a stain in our office left by the owner's puppy the other day, we put the Enzyme T on it, and now we don't even notice it was ever there (and the puppy is not drawn back to the spot to create another accident).

I have talked to quite a few other pet owners who have used this product and many of them prefer it to the other products out on the market today, including Natures Miracle.  Here is the info from the Tesch website  ( http://tinyurl.com/63q7ww ) :

Description:  Enzyme "T" Odor Remover removes both old and new odors resulting from organic and inorganic soils and waste such as odors from food, pets, pet accidents, urine, vomit, mildew, sewage backup or perspiration. For use on fabrics, upholstery, drapes tile, grout, vinyl, sealed wood, concrete and other water safe surfaces.

    Hope this helps.

  5. My cat was mad at me and she peed on my mattress. I sprayed some vinegar on the spot and let it dry. Sniffed, if the smell was still there, sprayed again saturating the area. Repeat until the smell is gone. Then I sprayed some "Arm & Hammer, Carpet and Fabric Pet Fresh Odor Eliminator" on the mattress. The smell was gone completely.

Make sure to check the sofa for color fastness in a hidden spot.

  6. I really like just a mix of 50/50 white vinegar and water. It works very well. You may want to verify color-fastness on a hidden part of your new chair. I have had a new piece of fabric lighten because of the vinegar before because the color had not set.
