Question:

How does one go about contacting a company to buy stuff wholesale for their own business?

I'm gathering information for a business I'm starting. So far I've just emailed different companies asking for wholesale information. I assumed a lot of them would have business packets they would send me containing the info I needed.

I just would like to know if there is a more proper etiquette to use when dealing with this matter.

  1. For starters I suggest calling rather than emailing.   That will be quicker, show you are serious/interrested.   Secondly, think about what you can offer the wholesaler - that some other guy could not.  For example, if you know the product, or can provide 1st line support, or can install the product, or maintain the product, or offer to take x*x units in stock, or represent them exclusively, or sell their products in an area they are not already represented -> that will help you close a good deal.
