How does one improve seller and buyer ratings for auctions?

AS I am attempting to bid on an auction, the seller does not accept bids from buyers with no (as in my case) and low auction ratings. Since I am a new bidder on yahoo and would like to win this auction, How do I improve my rating so that I can bid. I actually want to use the "but it now" option!

Try to contact the seller and see if they will allow the bid. Sometimes they will.

You can only improve your ratings by buying and/or selling items and receiving good ratings. There are no shortcuts. You might try buying several really cheap items (if you have  the time) from different sellers.

If all else fails, bid anyway. The seller has to actually reject your bid-there's always the chance the seller won't reject it.
