How does one learn to become a mentat?

As humans I think it will be hard for us to think like computers simply because we are humans with all our flaws and imperfections. We'd have to put emotions and physical needs to the side and that's not easily done for humans. We'd also have to learn how to use our minds to their full capacity. There are techniques that people use to remember things better and so on, but the ability to remember is not the same as being able to compute information so fast and well that you can replace a computer.

As for the fictional mentat, the robot Erasmus created the first mentat by training a boy with strict discipline and punishments. So it took a robot as a teacher, strict disiplne and then later on sapho juice of course to teach the mentat and then the future mentats.
