How does one see the queen?

I moved to London 2 years ago and one thing I've always wanted to do is see the Queen. Even just get a glimpse of her!

What's the best way to do it?

My friend saw the Queen at the film premiere of Casino Royale in Leicester Square without even meaning to and I wasn't there. I was gutted!

  1. The best place for you to see the Queen here in London is during HM Queen's Birthday Parade, which this year, 2008, is on Saturday 14th June 2008.

If you want tickets for the actual parade, book now.  They are in short supply.

If you cannot get or do not want a ticket for the parade, you can see the Queen if you stand right at the front anywhere along the Mall - which runs from Buskingham Palace to Admiralty Arch.  Stand on the north side of the Mall somewhere around St.James's Palace Yard but on the Mall.

  2. Wait until some special event comes along to see her :)

What does one queen do in the United Kingdom anyway? ....Not alot.....

  3. If you place a small Frankfurter at the rear entrance, she comes a sniffin....

  4. Snap out of it!  Think you are Whittington's cat ?

  5. Go to a film premiere in Leicester square when she's there...!?

  6. Buy tickets next time Elton John goes on tour.

  7. Why not wait outside Buckingham Palace or The Houses of Parliament  at the State Opening of Parliament? This happens once a year. If you watch the news, you will see the next date. I think that the next occasion will be later this year.

You will then get the 'glimpse' you mention as her carriage passes by.

  8. One doesn't look at the Queen. The Queen looks at you.

  9. Television Christmas day 3 o' clock, or go to a g*y nightclub otherwise you could go to the church she goes to.

  10. Go to www.royal.gov.uk--you can find out about the Queens engagements ,which ones are public then just go and you will probably see her

  11. Hand in pocket, pick out a coin and..............

  12. look on the website for her next public appearance

  13. Eyes would be a bonus. I saw the queen once, wasn't impressed (she's practically a midget).

  14. Go to the door of Buck House, knock on it and shout HOI LIZ FANCY A PINT! She'll be down like a shot

  15. The Queen usually comes out to greet her people on special occasions. If you are lucky though, you could spot her hiding behind some pillars while visiting Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle. The Queen is known to take a sneak peak at the tourists every now and then while she is there at residence.

The royal tradition "Trooping of the Colour" ceremony is coming up soon in June. In the United Kingdom, Trooping the Colour has become closely identified with the Queen's Official Birthday, and is also known as the Queen's birthday parade. The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh drive down The Mall in Queen Victoria's 1842 ivory-mounted phaeton drawn by two Windsor Grey horses.

The Royal Standard is flown when the queen is in residence in one of the royal residences, on the queen's car on official journeys and on aircraft (when on the ground). It may also be flown on any building, official or private, during a visit by the queen, if the owner or proprietor so requests. The Royal Standard also used to be flown on board the royal yacht, when it was in service and the queen was on board.

The only church that may fly the Royal Standard, even without presence of monarch, is Westminster Abbey, which is known as a "royal peculiar". Other churches generally are not allowed to hoist the Royal Standard. The Royal Standard is flown at royal residences only when the sovereign is present.

If the Union Flag is flying above Buckingham Palace instead of the Royal Standard, the queen is not in residence. If the ancient Royal Standard of the King of Scots is flying above Holyrood Palace or Balmoral Castle, instead of the Royal Standard used in Scotland, this also signals that the queen is not in residence.

  17. theres only one way! and thats a secret ;)

  18. LOL...I had no idea she had gone to the Premier...

Daniel Craig is a better Bond than connery or moore ever were....and I grew up with the latter two. George lazenby wasn't too bad. Not as charasmatic as Craig.

  19. Why do you want to see her? You should move to a country that has a hotter queen, like Jordan or Sweden or something.
