  1. Wow that is one doozy of a question. There are many ways to speed up a computer you can use the disk defragmenter go to start all programs accesories system tools disk defragmenter. You can also use disk clean up which is located in the same area as the disk defragmenter. I would check for viruses and spyware I know of  a good anti-virus/spyware/firewall program that is currently free  it is by gri-soft of course they will bug you to upgrade just ignore that. Now if you have done all of the above you can also run programs such as hijack this which will show you everything running in your computer and you can post it on a computer help forum like cybertech help and they can help you understand it cause it looks like gibberish I also would reccomend running silent runners it is also a bunch of gibberish unless you read that stuff day and night. The links are listed below. If none of that works you may want to add some more memory but windows can not hold more then 3 gigabytes even the vista operating system Yes manufactureres are selling 4 gigabytes of ram with new computers even though this problem has been discovered a long time ago. If none of that works then I would upgrade your computers processor quad core processors are getting cheaper and the 8 core is out or will be out soon.

  2. Check http://www.pcoptimizerprodownload.com

With pc optimizer pro you can safely clean, repair and optimize your computer.

It will help improve your system performance.

  3. Outside of cleaning out Temporary files on the machine you would need to install more Memory, faster processor, and higher RPM hard drive.  Those are the main components that deal with the speed of the PC.

  4. Overclock it.

  5. Add another stick of RAM.

Use the free Crucial Memory Advisor™ Tool

    http://www.crucial.com/

    to find what you need.

  6. Usually slowness is due to insufficient memory.

Adding more memory will almost always increase a computer's speed (especially if you are running windows, but even with other operating systems, it's just most other OS's have less memory requirements than windows, that windows will see the greatest increase.)

Cleaning up temp files can help in some instances... Cleanup! from http://stevengould.org will clean up a lot of space on your hard drive.

All anti-virus products will slow your computer down to some extent some more than others... (and some a LOT more than others.)

Norton is probably the worst offender on the market, followed pretty closely by Trend Micro if you enable all the extra "c**p" checks, like anti-spam etc.   NOD32 from ESET is the fastest AV that I've ever came across, very little system impact compared to 75% of the other AV products out there.

All those programs that start up and show up next to the time clock... Each and every one of those is taking up CPU and memory.  (Printers, scanners, weather icons, office-preloads etc.) Some of these programs you can tell not to start up automatically... some will start regardless of what you do, but will just "hide" the icon, that won't do any good.

Uninstall google, yahoo, you-name-it tool bars.  Uninstall google desktop if you have it installed... these all will slow your system.

Go to add/remove program, uninstall any program you aren't using any longer.

If you haven't defragmented your hard drive in 5 or 6 months, try that...  Usually fragments doesn't noticeably slow your system, but in rare circumstances, or after a year or two, defragmenting might help.

"Registry cleaners" usually will not make any appreciable difference in performance, but if you want to try one, try ccleaner from ccleaner.com since it's free.

Make sure you don't have any spyware on your system.  Do a scan/clean then IMMUNIZE with Spybot Search and Destroy.  During the install uncheck the "Tea Timer" as enabling that may add a *little* protection, but also adds another process that will be running in the background, slowing your system ever-so-slightly... All these things add up.

Make sure you are NOT running more than 1 active anti-virus, as mentioned above, ALL AV program slow your system, having 2 more more not only multiplies the slowness, but can actually allow viruses easier access.

Again, not enough memory is the most common cause of slowness on a system that doesn't have a virus/spyware on it.

  7. u can speed up the WINDOWS OS

    like windows xp

    there are two ways..

1)goto my computer properties->advance->performance(click on setting)->select ADJUST FOR BEST PERFORMANCE.

its change your theme and look but than your speed is fastest.

    2)goto my computer properties->advance->performance(click on setting)->advance->virtual memory(clcik on change)->max =1700,intial=1550->set(only for first drive)->ok.

this two way improve PC speed...

  8. The BEST way is to install an operating system that isn't a piece of c**p, that you have to have antivirus and anti-spyware on just to keep it running good.  you should install ubuntu an be rid of your problems.  http://www.ubuntu.com or http://www.opensuse.org

  9. Cram a twin turbo V12 engine into it.

  10. Try disk defragmenting.

There's some programs that you can download, just google "disk defragmenting software".

If you want an in-depth explanation, check my source.

  11. Using a registry cleaner can clean up your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some regsitry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".

Everytime you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you've installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it's Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Regisry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically!

There are some comparison and review of TOP 5 registry cleaners.

You can download and scan your computer for free.

  12. If you have Windows XP, you can use disk defragmenter.  That should help make it go faster.  It will take a long while for the process so do it at night time when you are not using it.

If you want a program to make it go faster:  You can buy System Mechanic Professional.  It's about $70 or so.  You can check out this site for more information about the program:  http://www.iolo.com/system-mechanic/pro/
