How does one stay sane in a world like this?

When atrocities are being committed every second and I won't be able to

do anything to stop them?

I just stumbled upon yet another story about a child half-way across the world who was tortured and murdered in the worst ways imaginable. For what?

I wish I believed in God and otherworldly justice but all I see is this s*** and how little power any of us have to stop it.

  1. very good point!  yeah,,,,,,where is god?

  2. Become an observer instead of a participant and do what you can to fix your own corner of the world.

  3. So what do you do to help then?

  4. You don't, we are all slightly nuts.

  5. You can thank beer

  6. If you have never tried faith, try it.  You might like it.

  7. god has his reasons for doing such things.  isn;t that what christians always say

  8. Stop "stumbling upon" horrific stories from around the globe. Some may be true some may not be but you cannot change that. Live a simple life. Help other people in ways that you can. Find good things that you can do rather than dwelling on atrocities that you have no control over. Do the best you can. It is too bad you have no faith because it is the one thing that carries us through. This is part of your problem. Instead of blaming God or refusing to beleive because there is evil in the world ---look at all of the good that still exists.

  9. This current world is the very reason that Heroin was invented.

  10. Yikes, what a way to go. This may sound selfish, but in order to remain stable you will have to stop taking on other people's problems and deal only with yours. Trying to change things you can't possibly have any influence over will only send you right to the donut shop.

  11. ...Let go of things you cannot control - trust the Lord with them - He can handle them.

...Consider this advice (I think it's from John Wesley):

..."Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in every place you can, at all the times you can, to everyone you can, as long as you ever can—do all the good you can."

    **

...Jesus, went about doing good" (Acts 10:38).

    ...So should we.

  12. As sin increases and the devil gets more influence, it will only get worse.

Keep your eyes on Jesus and just say "Jesus help me."  Jesus is returning soon to stop all of this evil in the world.

  13. Just look at the upside of life and take life as it unveils.

We all look at the downside and feel terrible about it so just let it be!

  14. Yes, and I just read an article about two painters who risked their lives to rescue a toddler from a fire, even tho' both men were not firefighters and had no equipment other than their courage. You see what you want to see. I see the nobility of those who are doing all they can to make this a better world.

  15. Seek God's Spirit a Spirit of love which includes power and sanity - thus it was written - so it still is...

try or try not, God determines what you do...

here's some quotes for life's journey:-

    Friedrich Nietsche:

What else is love but understanding and rejoicing in the fact that another person lives, acts, and experiences otherwise than we do...?

He that humbleth himself wishes to be exalted.

He who would learn to fly one day must first learn to stand and walk and run and climb and dance...

On the mountains of truth you can never climb in vain: either you will reach a point higher up today, or you will be training your powers so that you will be able to climb higher tomorrow.

Is life not a thousand times too short for us to bore ourselves?

It is my ambition to say in ten sentences what others say in a whole book.

To forget one's purpose is the commonest form of stupidity.

  16. I feel much the same, it makes me so sad. There seems no limit to some peoples cruelty, but there's one thing that all of us could do. Rather than becoming bitter and losing faith which can only add to the negativity, its seems we could all try to restore balance with what's lacking, Compassion, Goodwill and Love.

  17. Take lithium. That's what I do. (Really.)

Seriously, stories like that are enough to upset any sensitive person. My advice is to find a safe place where you can retreat and find some peace when the world is getting to be too much. I'm not saying be passive in the face of evil and suffering, but you need to give yourself a break now and then, or else you really will drive yourself over the edge one of these days. Take it from me, I've been there.

  18. Yes, isn't god wonderful

  19. Faith in a good God and true justice is sometimes tested in this wicked and evil world when these sorts of things happen. Yet it does reaffirm what the Bible teaches - that when man chose to sin, it not only affected him but also all who would follow him. It's also a sign that the devil is real and at work through people.

However, we do have a choice and we can use our power to do something about it. Look at people like Mother Theresa, Greg Mortenson, Billy Graham, and Princess Diana. They all made a difference. There's organizations out there who seek to help the abused and used and mistreated everyday. Here's a couple you might wanna check out -

    International Justice Mission

    Shared Hope International

    Samaritan's Purse

    http://www.samaritanspurse.org/

God raises people up to do His will in this wicked world because He hates evil and loves people. It is not His will that any should suffer or perish but that all would come to know Him as He is - love. And that they would love one another.

Micah 6:8, "And what does the LORD require of you?

To act justly and to love mercy

and to walk humbly with your God."

John 13:34-35,"34"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another"

Luke 10:27, "" 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"

  20. You say you wish you believed in God. Now is the time my friend to do exactly that. These horrible things you see are the exact same atrocities that were going on in the days of Noah ( the flood) , the days of Lot (Sodom and Gomorrah) and the same things that the Canaanites , Amorites, Hittites etc. were destroyed for by the children of Israel thru Moses and Joshua. These atrocities included, child sacrifice ,homosexuality, beastiality, pedophilia, rape, prostitution and worship of false gods to name only a few. God is again waiting until the iniquity of the earth is full. In other words when God knows that not one more person is going to repent and come to him then he will again call for judgment on the earth as he did in the above situations  and sinners will be destroyed . Friend the Bible says that now is the acceptable time for salvation . If you are truly interested in believing in God, you can click on my avatar and email me . I would be happy and honored to show you the way to the best of my ability.  I am not a scholar or super Christian , I am just a humble servant of the Lord Jesus, an ordinary man who loves his Creator. We love Him, because He first loved us. Don't delay, Come to Christ.

  21. Actually, being insane has its advantages, as only an insane person could love this hellhole of a world we got stuck on and even thrive.

Look at the people around you with smiling faces. They are either 1) faking it or 2) lunatics. Take your pick.

Nobody with a conscience and a brain could be happy in this world.  However, at least there's Jack Daniels, Marijuana and s*x to liven your days.

  22. Thats just the thing though there is nothing we can do.  I wish I could stop every child molester and rapist and murderer and every drug addict parent from abusing their children but we can't.  It's like the monks said life is pain and suffering.

  23. I drink to stay sane.

Here is one, how just is it when a man goes to prison for xing out of a child porno site that he accidentally stumbled on to instead of reporting it to the feds. The files were in his temp files not on his hard drive. Failure to report is a crime but he isn't a s*x offender yet he is in prison and will have to register when he gets out. Running around out there are men who are s*x offenders, who have touched children inappropriately and all all they get is a few years probation deferred which means after the probation period they will no longer have to register and they will no longer be considered s*x offenders. How is that just?

  24. Well I guess we could plug our ears and close our eyes and sing!  But that tends to make one's sanity not so good.

On a more serious note, yes that is quite atrocious.

  25. I choose not to live in this world. As someone else suggested to you, I observe. Sort of like the chess player, rather than the chess piece. The pieces get to live the action. I am just able to predict what will happen less, and everything that does happen doesn't affect me in any great way.

  26. believe in Jesus , that's it. John 16:33 "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

  27. i feel the same way this is a terrible story but so long as you do everything you can to be a good person and have a good life then that is all you can do. no one can solve all the problems in the world but if we all try a little harder in our own communities to be better then it would get better. it is a shame there arent more people like you with the desire to help because god isnt doing anything is he?

  28. When I became a Christian I understood why all of these things happen, and that nobody, escapes judgment from God.    Jesus is going to fix this whole mess in the end..

  29. In a world like this, why would anyone Want to be sane?

Seriously, what is going on has always been going on.  The only difference is globalization, mass media, separation from nature.
