How does one win bobbing for apples?

Question

Some friends and I are holding a going away party and one of the games we're going to play is bobbing for apples.

I haven't played this in probably 15 years or so and realize I have no idea how you win this game.

Does anyone know?

whoever gets the most apples win

Time it - The way I used to play it is whomever got the apple in the shortest amount of time.  

We set a time limit - like say 2 minutes.
