idk, but National Geographic makes a kids toy that actually makes recycled paper, it takes you through the process step by step, i thought that was pretty cool, i think Target has them at the store, (not online i checked)

Normally its broken back down into fibres by mixing with water.

Its then made back into paper - you can do it yourself if you get some paper, shred it, mix it with warm water and stir, if you add a touch of bleach it will turn white otherwise it stays a grey or brown colour.

Some places will mix the paper with rag fibres to make new paper and some will just make 100% recycled paper.
