I see on ebay cruises for $450 total for BOTH people with all taxes and free paid for a 4 night cruise. They claim you make payment 100% to the cruise line. What should I look out for? Are these some kind of scams? Let me know what you think. Thanks

  1. The prices you see are usually the same price that cruiselines are offering to the public.  I was just looking at RCCL's 4 night Bahama cruise from Miami and it is about $430 or so on ebay.

I checked with RCCL's site,  and found the same price.

Travel agents are not allowed to lower the published price and so to compete with others, they offer frills such as, free insurance, onboard credit, etc.

  2. Hi,

I shop for travel through Cheapest Prices Search Engine. There are several places to visit. The main site and two or three at the bottom.

Sometimes a company will buy a block of rooms and sell them at different prices. Always check a few places out, like those on Cheapest Prices Search Engine does for you.

Good luck to you...and go out and have a great time.....it's a great time to travel.

p.s. Also you can get the latest prices on airfare, car rental, hotels and more

  3. Do not buy cruises off of Ebay.  They are not a travel provider and they do not work with the cruise lines.  These are scams that people play.  All major cruise companies only deal with companies that have something called a CLIA number.  Ebay is not an autorized holder of a CLIA number.  Travelocity.com or Orbitz.com etc are all providers you can trust.  When people offer deals that are more than 2 - 3 hundred dollars off the regular price it is most likly a scam.  Travel agents get discounts becouse they cut their commissions, but not by much 1 - 2 hundred at a time.

UPDATE:  Since someone thinks my answer is not good.  You don't have to believe me, but I work in the sales department for a cruise line and we have no accounts set up for Ebay.  They are not a licensed travel provider.  If there are listings on there it may be travel agent posting or something else, but it is not the cruise line.

  4. I thought that you can't resell a cruise.  If you need to change a name on your booking, many cruiselines will allow you to do so for a small fee, but one of the original names must remain on the booking.

About 72 hours before sailing, the cruiseline must submit a list of all passengers (including minors).  When you board, your passport name must exactly match the name on the manifest.
